Remembrance Day Service

On Wednesday 11th November  students form Years 3,4,5 & 6 from Murwillumbah Primary went to the Cenotaph to participate in the service to honour those who have fought for our country in war. Our school leaders, Riley Yates, Summer Masters and Samantha Morrin  were chosen by Mr Derek Sims to lead the service . They were assisted by Druen Pidgeon. One of our Year One students, Jordan Simkins made a very touching speech to the community on behalf of this generation about the significance for young people of Remembrance Day. As part of the service our school, along with other community members sang two hymns-The Recessional and Abide with Me. The songs were accompanied by the Murwillumbah High School Band. Our Sydney choir students performed a song while the wreaths were being laid. We then stayed to watch the unveiling of a plaque to honour those who fought in the Korean War.

Mr Derek Sims made special mention of how he was impressed with our ‘dignity and decorum’ in leading the service.
