LIBRARY NEWS

The Library will be closed from Weeks 7-9 for Stocktake. There will not be any lessons during that time. Borrowing will continue until Wk 5; after that time all books will need to be returned. It is Library policy that a replacement cost be paid for lost or damaged books. Reminder notices will be sent out over the next few weeks for all overdue books. If your child brings home a reminder note it would be appreciated if you could attend to the matter immediately. All books need to be returned by the end of Week 6.

Bookclub Issue 7 brochures have been distributed and all orders must be in by Wednesday 4th November.

Sports Shorts

Last Wednesday our final North Coast Representative was competing in Sydney at the State Athletics Carnival. Nikaya once again represented our school well in her Shot Put event and we congratulate her on her achievements throughout the year. Nikaya, over a number of years has been a good ambassador for our school through her sporting achievements.

As our competitive sporting year comes to an end we now see a number of social gala days evolving in a number of sports. This is enabling our younger students access to competition with a social atmosphere.

Pottsville Camp

During the last week of Term 3, years 4, 5 and 6 participated in their annual camp at Pottsville. With one of the largest group of students for a number of years the camp ran smoothly due to the hard work by staff and the many parents who spent time assisting.  The rock climbing wall was once again a great hit of the children as well as the activities in ‘Mad Sports’. Sand modelling as well as beach relays and games were enjoyed by all. It was great to see the many students working together to make the camp a success.

Thanks must go to the parents who gave up their time to join us and help at the camp. This parental support is a valuable asset for our school.

Year 3 Camp

Last Monday night our year 3 students had a camp under tents with a difference. With the weather not so kind, tents for the students were erected under the shelter. Although violent storms were all around us, the camp went ahead without any drama. After a barbecue dinner we settled for games of bingo and trivia questions in the hall. From the hall the students went to their tents and although it took some time for them to get over the excitement, they settled down quite well under the conditions.

The next day, Tuesday, we awoke to what was a promising day as the weather cleared and our excursion with year 4 was able to go ahead. This was to Pottsville where we enjoyed activities with the Mad Sports people. We also spent time sand modelling at the creek and having a great time in general. Thanks must also go to all the parents who offered their assistance for this excursion, it was greatly appreciated by all.

Canberra Excursion 2010

Yesterday all students in years 3, 4 and 5 were given a note regarding an excursion to Canberra in May/June 2010. It is important that if parents wish for their children to participate, notes are returned promptly so that organisation for the trip can proceed. There will be a limit of 50 students that can be accommodated on this trip. So get in early.
